Every people have different cultures which are different knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of the individuals. The piece that I made is something that has a meaning on it which includes currency, passion, and beliefs. I made a circle that is cast using plaster which represents a coin because the first money that I receive when I was young was a coin. The flag in the "coin" represents the flag of the Philippines which where I born and the medals represent something that I earn in sports. Also, under the "coin" there is a number "2004 - 2015," it represents when I born and leave my country for better education and life. The cross represents Jesus Christ and I painted red to represent his blood on the cross.

First, I took a piece of clay, mold it into a circle, and use a rolling pin to even the clay. Next, I used a tool to make a perfect circle around it. Then I trace my paper into clay to create a pattern, I used the carving tool to make a negative effect on my clay. I have to be careful about carving because the depth of the clay has to be even. After I finished tracing, I begin to mixed the two cups of plaster and one cup of water in the bowl, I make sure it's liquid before I pour it on my clay. I let it dry for 3 hours and took it out using my hands. Then, I started using tools to carve the side of the dry plaster and clean some of the clay left on the dry plaster. Lastly, I paint the whole thing white accept the bottom part. I used the blow dryer to dry it and paint the letters by black acrylic, also the flag and the cross.

Reflective statement
The letters and flag are the strong components and attribute to my piece because the letters go around the circle of my piece and it stands out when I look at it. Also, the flag is one that attributes of my piece because it looks like in the back of the medals which looks great. I learn from my piece that applies to others is different backgrounds and cultures can affect your life but you control what you have. After I finished my artwork I saw what I expected because after I compare my sketchbook to my final artwork it looked the same, but I could have done better by casting my project using plaster on my clay. Using the casting process I learned how to cast using plaster and saw how to do the glass part. Skills or strategy that I would apply in the future is when I cast I would use different types of materials to cast.
