Artist Statement |
Basketball is my favorite sport which I made on my final project but the project I made was harder than I thought, It will make you step out of your comfort zone, you need to pay attention to every detail, and you will need patience. For my carving units, I used the dry plaster to carve because I practice the wood and Styrofoam and I did not like them. I chose the dry plaster because I know it will challenge me to finish the final piece.
|
First I create a box and put plaster mixed with water and I poured 6 to 8 large bowl sizes. Then, I let it dry for one day. Next, I started taking the cardboard out to take the dry plaster out. Then, before I start carving I drew on the dry plaster on each side. Using the wood carving tools, I started shaping it rounded by carving the edges off. As I starting to chip all the dry plaster I kept drawing the lines so I don't get lost on my work. I did not finished my carving project on time but I'm willing to finish it because I want to see my final result. But after I finish on my carving I would paint my dry plaster to orange to represent a basketball.

Reflective Statement
My strong components and attributes according to my final sketch is how the eye movement and the the flow of my peace. Also the round and holes of my final project. I learned from this peace is finished what you started because if you start something and did not finish it your just wasting your time and you will never see your progress of how you finish it. I did not see the result yet but I'm willing to finish it because I want to finish what I started. I conclude using the carving process or technique by when you are working on your dry plaster do not add to much water because it will mess your whole project. Skills and strategy I would apply in the future is to carve something that would challenge me because I want to learn from my mistake and developed more knowledge.
